The .debs are simply a easy way to install the programs, config files and data files. I will make the same files available in a zip for people to place where they want them. I expect any Debian based distribution will have no problem. Such as Armbian. (one of my favorites)

Not necessarily. I have not tested on other ARM distributions yet. My board "collection" is down right now for relocation. What distribution are you interested in running?
