Welcome to DVSwitch
Purpose
1) Allows “local” networking during an outage of the regional national/international network server.
2) Allows a local network operator to “blend” upstream feeds from different Networks (capital N on purpose). These Networks can’t get their act together and learn how to play nice with each other (everyone guilty as far as we are concerned). They may not like people doing this, but the solution is to grow up and work with each other, and not keep trying to force people to take sides.
3) Allows local segregation of localized traffic with more flexibility.
4) Allows experimentation with linking and how it’s done (part 97 specifies experimentation and advancement of the radio art are a core part of amateur radio).
Mission Statement/Position
WHEREAS the Networks continue to be largely islands and are not working together to create a unified network of Networks.
WHEREAS no firm reason has been given by any of the Networks why a *competent* local network operator cannot make this work effectively.
(US ONLY)
WHEREAS 47 CFR 97 (Amateur Radio Service) specifies that a core component of amateur radio is experimentation and advancement of the radio art [97.1(b)].
BE IT RESOLVED the core group of US amateur radio operators and experimenters organized around the DVSwitch project, and in the spirit of USA 47 CFR 97 and its intentions, support the *responsible* and *thoughtful* use of digital voice networking tools to create localized networks that will interconnect to the national/international Networks, and will support users of its tools in order to do this in the most effective and sustainable way possible.

So, now I know what I'm dealing with. Did you start with a fresh HamVoIP image? Do you have a radio connected? Steve

Steve, Yes, the host is running both DVSwitch and AllStar. The DVSwitch is supposed to be connected to Allstar private node 1999. I'm able to connect that node to my public node 46040 but I do not receive audio from node 1999. I am trying to connect to the server with both my mobile and a Linux client. My mobile does register but will not allow me to make changes to the server. Linux appears to not connect to the server at all.

So that I understand. You have a host running DVSwitch Server. Is it also running AllStar? You are trying to connect to your DVSwitch Server with Mobile via USRP?

Thanks Steve,
I searched and followed a message here on groups.io. That install went smooth and seem to work. I had DVSwitch for years now using it for IAX connections to my Allstarlink nodes. I set it up base on the DVSwitch manual I found here in the file section. I'm using USRP. Chris WS5B

Let me get a little info first. How did you install DVSwitch Server on HamVoIP? When you say you have DVSwitch installed on your Android phone, I assume you mean DVSwitch Mobile. How are you connecting from DVSwitch Mobile to your node? IAX or USRP? Let's start there. Steve N4IRS

"Lost"

I'm trying to set up a hamvoip node with DVswitch. It looks like I have DVswitch server working on hamvoip. The dashboard is working and I can monitor it. I have DVSwitch running on my Android phone and it is Registered but I can't get it to change talk groups, transmit or receive. I also have a USRB Client running on a Linux VM and it will not connect or make changes. The Android and USRB Client was working but somewhere I must have changed something and it doesn't work anymore. It has never worked on the 1999 node that I set up for it. I'm not an expert on computer programming and I'm more familiar with hamvoip and hardware. At this time I'm lost and could really use some help. I'll be happy to let someone in on Teamviewer if necessary.

Re: DV mega / DV stick 30?
Robert
Brilliant, thanks all.
And yes the "DV stick 30" seems to be the best price in the UK, without getting hammered with import duty / postage costs. Cheers & 73 Rob

Hi
DVStick 3000 and ThumbDV are same functionality wise but two different companies. Both works fine for me DStar definitely needs hardware dongle. MD380 will not support DStar

Re: DV mega / DV stick 30?
Since he is in the UK the Dvstick 30 would be cheaper for him there.

I use the ThumbDV with mine, and it works great. Just make sure you have a good power supply. Looks like it's on sale for a little cheaper than the one you were looking at (depends on source and shipping costs though). 73 Jason - WY7JT

DV mega / DV stick 30?
Robert
Happy new year all.
I am currently using DVS server & software vocoder on a pi 3b+. I am looking to improve audio and also gain access to dstar. I am still new to the digital side of things, is the "DV stick 30" suitable for what I am trying to achieve, or is there something better? Many thanks & 73 Rob

In Ircddbgateway server log : [..]Error returned from sendto (port: 20010), err: 22
On ircddbgateway server the tcpdump : IP IPr.isdnlog > IPg.20010: UDP, length 26
The gateway receave ‘.isdnlog’ port and not 20011. The port is correct when i use tcpdump for DMRGateway Why ? Sole body have the same problem ? Thank you

Re: Dashboard is not swown correcty
The dashboard port number is determined by the web server. If you
rare running nginx and lighttpd with default configurations, both
servers are trying to service port 80. Stop lighttpd with:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
systemctl stop lighttpd systemctl disable lighttpd The upgrade required on port 8080 you can ignore. That is the webproxy used to deliver receive audio. Steve N4IRS

Dashboard is not swown correcty
Pietro Schimmenti (IU2 DLC)
Hi all, i hope in your help :-)
Well i installed the server with the Raspberry image and no problem at all. It'up&running. I also have a relatively powe VPS with Ubuntu 20.04. Primarly i use it for my projects so the conf. is nginx primarly. I installed the dvswitch server on it. Fortunately no problem. dvs starts at first shot and all services is up and running despite the lighttpd was installed there are no issues with the nginx and also ports are correctly configured server side and on the firewall/nat. Well what happens? All run smoothly except the dashboard. If i connect on port 80 (but i tried even other ports) i can see only the header and the RX button. It is so strange...even the sound is working but the dashboard is totally missing no error shown. Worst is for the monitoring that does not answer on default port. Connecting to port 8080 a message say "upgrade required", then i upgraded googling that "piece" that seemed not update. Fortunatelly i made a snapshot of the vps , i don't lost nothing but that upgrade crashed both lightd and nginx so for sure was not the right solution. Does someone of you have/had same issues? I hope i was clear in explaining all because i would like a working solution if it exist. It is a production server so i don't want to play with it unless somo fix/workaround will solve the issue. To be honest it's not crucial for me because the dvswitch works good so the dashboard give me just the plus of seeing qrz people on my server but nothing more. Neither the monitoring is crucial due the server is fully monitored already with the cloud tools. So it's just to finish the job nothing more ...and understand how come. Thanks in advance, Pietro IU2DLC.

Re: kf7eel / hbnet
Hi Patrick,
Documentation is something that is lacking, and something that I have been working on. See the Wiki for what little documentation exists at the moment. As I get more time, more of the pages will start to contain helpful information. Time is a precious commodity between multiple jobs and family. Send me an email off list, and I will be happy to help you get set up. This will also help me find/fix/address issues that may come up, improving documentation. Thanks, Eric - KF7EEL
