Welcome to DVSwitch
Purpose
1) Allows “local” networking during an outage of the regional national/international network server.
2) Allows a local network operator to “blend” upstream feeds from different Networks (capital N on purpose). These Networks can’t get their act together and learn how to play nice with each other (everyone guilty as far as we are concerned). They may not like people doing this, but the solution is to grow up and work with each other, and not keep trying to force people to take sides.
3) Allows local segregation of localized traffic with more flexibility.
4) Allows experimentation with linking and how it’s done (part 97 specifies experimentation and advancement of the radio art are a core part of amateur radio).
Mission Statement/Position
WHEREAS the Networks continue to be largely islands and are not working together to create a unified network of Networks.
WHEREAS no firm reason has been given by any of the Networks why a *competent* local network operator cannot make this work effectively.
(US ONLY)
WHEREAS 47 CFR 97 (Amateur Radio Service) specifies that a core component of amateur radio is experimentation and advancement of the radio art [97.1(b)].
BE IT RESOLVED the core group of US amateur radio operators and experimenters organized around the DVSwitch project, and in the spirit of USA 47 CFR 97 and its intentions, support the *responsible* and *thoughtful* use of digital voice networking tools to create localized networks that will interconnect to the national/international Networks, and will support users of its tools in order to do this in the most effective and sustainable way possible.
Re: DMR Bridge not "un-keying" problem
This comes from the old phone patch protocol: “star-up, pound-down”
But, with Allstar, you can configure this to be whatever you want in rpt.conf
cop, 6 is the function to key up the transmit or you can use the keyword “autopatchup”
for dropping the PTT you can configure a function for “autopatchdn”. On some distros this is function *0
But the “#” down is probably built-in and goes way back …

Hi,
Thanks very much for the info! I never heard it was # before. The info I've seen and a couple of youtube videos say *99 is a TX toggle. Well thanks for clearing that up! -Steve W7RD

Hi,
I've set up about 10 DMR to Allstar bridges. This may be more of an Allstar issue than DVSwitch. Anyhow, when I key with *99 on the phone portal (or IAX client) it works great ... audio comes through on DMR and it's all good. But when I press *99 again, it's supposed to unkey, but it doesn't .... and the radio stays lit up until I hang up the phone. Has anyone encountered this? Thanks, Steve W7RD

I believe it has been said, If you have issues with the server, Use any other one that works well for you. So , it's worth a try if you are having issues. But re-check periodically as things change. I have found it is still logical to use the one 'closest to your ISP's HUB/switch', not necessarily the one closest to you if you understand that thinking. ...mike/kb8jnm

Too bad our one and only brandmeister server is on the other side of the country -- the RTT gets an extra +30ms to the hop :-( WPG -> MTL -> TOR -> MTL ... when will people get on the IX bandwagon?! I will enjoy learning more about this config. 73, Dan ve4drk

Thanks for the help. I've pretty much followed the instructions as far as I can tell.
I have specified the dmr id with the 2 digit extension has recommended. I've specified my brandmeister password and verified it. I did not change any color code - not sure if that matters? I am having the issue with the MMDVM_Bridge program - and have not progressed to changing/configuring the Analog yet. Here's my ini file - less pass. I can't see anything myself. I'm still hunting. 73, Dan ve4drk [General]

without looking at your files, I can only say, check that you are using the appended dmr ID in the right place. One is your true ID (non appended) and the other id that is a appended ID (if you chose to do it that way) And I'm guessing you might want to check that your ID is correct as seen at brandmeister. Look for type errors Color Code for Canada correct and set ? That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Send your mmdvm_bridge.ini and analog_bridge.ini files if you don't find anything. ...mike/kb8jnm

Hi there -- Dan ve4drk from Winnipeg here.
(warning - long email - two logs) I've been going through Steve's document on the Analog to DMR config and am almost there. Great/easy write-up too. Initially, when I did the update, I had one error which apparently was corrected by running the script again. It had an error on dvswitch-base - but after attempt #2, it went through apparently ok. So, it keeps on telling me login to the master had failed. Not sure what I did wrong as I have the same credentials as I log into the brandmeister.network with. Anyone spot what I could have done wrong. I have to assume it's me as others are using this script just fine HI HI 73, Dan ve4drk

I saw and recorded the excellent DRAWS presentation at this year's TAPR DCC. Look for it to post soon here: https://www.youtube.com/c/hamradio20

Re: Early Adopters Pre-Sale for the Digital Radio Amateur Workstation - DRAWS
Will, It uses some of the GPIO busses and pins. These are not compatible across SBCs. A lot of the capability is due to the use of this functionality and would be limited by making it a USB device. Raspberry Pi has sufficient computing for the applications we are designing for and there are millions of them deployed. They are inexpensive and have active development and community. Our development and support costs go up with more platforms. We are going to offer the DRAWS as a complete and integrated unit to drop into a station, at which point the SBC is just a part of the solution. We prefer to focus our efforts on this

I also restarted the bm service on all the US masters tonight to update a few scripts and it was roughly during this time. Corey. N3fe

What is your dmr id, not your callsign.
