What hardware platform?
What OS?
Please show startup output from each instance.
Please show MMDVM_Bridge.ini from each instance.

Do each work properly if they are the only instance running?

The part that matters is what I’ve quoted below. This should not be a configuration error, but something else wrong.

For the name error to be true, that subscriber_ids is not defined (globally) would mean you should have seen an error on startup with line 508 where this happens:

subscriber_ids = mk_id_dict(CONFIG['ALIASES']['PATH'], CONFIG['ALIASES']['SUBSCRIBER_FILE’])

Take a look at the logging output when you start hb_confbridge.py and send me anything after message about registration ACL (Access Control List) and before "HBlink \'hb_router.py\' (c) 2016 N0MJS & the K0USY Group - SYSTEM STARTING…”

Please use PM, there’s no need to spam the list with it. Also indicate if you have changed ANYTHING in the source files, no matter how small it seems.

[Newbie!] Mute Parrot ?

Rob MW0CQU

HI All,

havent been a daily coder for several decades (DCL script on a MicroVax) so bear with me as Im on a steep

learning curve

Im running hbconfbridge.py on an Ubuntu test system to learn what its doing before even thinking
about going near a "production" system.

I have set up a test harness :

Slot 1, TG1 Test TG

Slot 2 TG2 Parrot

I have setup hb_confbridge_rules.py with two systems - a Master & Parrot

hblink.cfg also contains definitions for those two peers

I run hb_confbridge.py and both peers are happilly pinging/ponging  away

On my radio I select TG 2 on slot 2 and TX a "count"

I get no audio back, the repeater doesnt go into TX mode and in ERROR or DEBUG modes I get the following.

DEBUG 2018-10-18 00:02:37,279 (PARROT) DMRD - Sequence: 53, RF Source: 10004, Destination ID: 2

All of the other runtime "niggles" Ive sorted out but this one has me beat

Is my understanding correct that running hb_confbridge.py with two peers is the right way to do this ? or is there a README somewhere Ive missed please ?

Re: HB Link HowTo Create Master Sever

Corey Dean N3FE <n3fe@...>

I am sorry you feel that way about the BM Masters.  To each their own I guess. We are all volunteers...

If you are running only homebrew repeaters then you want HBLINK.  If you are running Motorola Repeaters then you want dmrlink.

I would suggest turning to google for git.  Basically when you know what you want on the git page you would do a git clone and the URL provided...

I have been digging around searching the threads and can't seem to find a clear picture of how to go about deploying my own DMR master.
I have a DMR to ASL server running, but am tired of the intermittent issues with BM. Since my analog repeater looks to my Bridge and so do my DMR repeaters, when BM decides to get flaky, I lose connection between my repeaters. I know, I can put a radio back at the site programmed with our local TG, but I want to be able to get back to the repeaters when I am on the road.
Me an my local group also want to use our own server to connect all of our local DMR repeaters as well as our hotspots to. I think this is the way to go. Traffic will be low and reliability will be high.

I have figured out, I need to install HB Link. I am assuming that I need to install other "modules" as well.
Would someone lay out the the little flow diagram for me to get what I need installed. Such as .... [HBlink]-->[Example]<--->[Example]
I also need the get or git commands to get them.

One more question, I know I'm asking a lot.... When I am finished, can I have ASL and HBLink running on the same small cloud server, or is it better to keep them on separate VM's due to the small processing power? I am running 1 gig servers on Vultr. Currently, I have my bridge,Broadcastify,Echolink and ASL hub all on different servers.

Thanks for any help,

Yes I see that.  I just verified that as well as your account creation on 10/10/18.

What master are you connected to that you are having a problem?

Please don't just pick a talkgroup and start using it.  In the last two days I have blocked 5 allstar/dmr cross bridges because they are just using whatever talkgroup they wish.  Three of them decided they would use talk groups in other countries and not in the US and had 2 complaints from other admins in other countries about this.  The other two were people that chose to use talkgroups that were either assigned to someone else or was just getting issued and hadn't been labeled yet.  If you need a talkgroup then request them just like everyone else.  You will be put through a 60 day trial period.

PLEASE use your personal DMR ID or a repeater ID you own as a talkgroup!!!

I read this as the following:
"can hear myself great on hoseline" This means to me ASL -> DMR is working fine. Encode is working.
"My problem is that when someone tries to connect to me on DMR I get a kerchunk and no audio." May be audio level of DMR -> ASL . May be a decode problem.
"When I monitor hoseline I hear garbled audio." Who is transmitting (ASL or DMR) when you hear garbled audio on hoseline?

Things to check / report:
Analog_Bridge.ini

logLevel = 2                                                  ; Show messages and above 0=No logging, 1=Debug, 2=Message, 3=Info, 4=Warning, 5=Error, 6=Fatal

decoderFallBack = true                              ; Allow software AMBE decoding if a hardware decoder is not found
useEmulator = true                                    ; Use the MD380 AMBE emulator
emulatorAddress = 127.0.0.1:2470        ; IP address and port of the server

If useEmulator is not set true (and you are using decoderFallBack) thne you are using the built in OP25 Vocoder in Analog_Bridge, not the emulator.

If possible, please post the log output of Analog_Bridge when you are receiving DMR from BM.

If you need to adjust the DMR -> ASL audio, change:
aslAudio = AUDIO_USE_GAIN

agcGain = 1.0
This should be the same level as unity

agcGain = 2.0
This should be twice as loud as unity

agcGain = 0.5
This should be half as loud as unity

Correct it is node making it to me. The only thing that I get on my end is my repeater keys and unkeys. On hoseline I hear them garbled.

right now Brandmeister shows I am not connected and I get an error message when I try to add my talk group. A pop up says Error 500
