Welcome to DVSwitch
Purpose
1) Allows “local” networking during an outage of the regional national/international network server.
2) Allows a local network operator to “blend” upstream feeds from different Networks (capital N on purpose). These Networks can’t get their act together and learn how to play nice with each other (everyone guilty as far as we are concerned). They may not like people doing this, but the solution is to grow up and work with each other, and not keep trying to force people to take sides.
3) Allows local segregation of localized traffic with more flexibility.
4) Allows experimentation with linking and how it’s done (part 97 specifies experimentation and advancement of the radio art are a core part of amateur radio).
Mission Statement/Position
WHEREAS the Networks continue to be largely islands and are not working together to create a unified network of Networks.
WHEREAS no firm reason has been given by any of the Networks why a *competent* local network operator cannot make this work effectively.
(US ONLY)
WHEREAS 47 CFR 97 (Amateur Radio Service) specifies that a core component of amateur radio is experimentation and advancement of the radio art [97.1(b)].
BE IT RESOLVED the core group of US amateur radio operators and experimenters organized around the DVSwitch project, and in the spirit of USA 47 CFR 97 and its intentions, support the *responsible* and *thoughtful* use of digital voice networking tools to create localized networks that will interconnect to the national/international Networks, and will support users of its tools in order to do this in the most effective and sustainable way possible.

I have already done that, but as others have stated, that might take a while.

DMRGateway still exists. It's a separate project outside DVSwitch. I need to make a new document, now that MB has been updated and issues have been fixed. I'll work on it tonight. Steve KC1AWV

If you have an XLX Reflector that has Transcoder Hardware just ask Brandmeister for an Interlink.

XLX TO MB TO MB TO BM
OR XLX TO DMRGATEWAY TO MB TO MB TO BM Must use latest binary for MB Look back a few messages regarding connecting ysf reflectors . On how to connect two MB together. Use Dmr ports instead of ysf.

Re: BM to XLX via MMDVM_Bridge - Doc version 2.0

I'm a bit confused here.
I have set up XLXD for DSTAR, and I want to bridge this to a Brandmeister talk group. I tried doing this just with ambed, XLXD and MMDVM_Bridge with a static Brandmeister talk group set up in the dashboard. I saw activity from MMDVM_Bridge show up on the console from the talk group, but it never made it to the reflector. I think I broke something there. Then I found this guide. However, DMRGateway doesn't seem to be in DVSwitch anymore, unless I'm missing something obvious, which is entirely possible. I found a post from November 2018 stating that DMRGateway no longer exists, yet the first draft of this doc was written in February 2019. So, what exactly is the state of DMRGateway?

Contact a brandmeister server host admin directly. I don't think they even look at the support page requests anymore, I had one in for months and finally got it resolved when I contacted Corey N3FE. Somehow when I put my ticket on the US support website, they said it ended up on the UK ticket system.

Re: DSTAR to DMR, getting started
You need to open a helpdesk ticket with Brandmeister support. You have to give them the requested information, like TG, Module, IP Address and such. Be patient, my interlink request is still waiting for approval since February. Steve KC1AWV

Re: DSTAR to DMR, getting started
Patrick Perdue
I'm trying to figure out how this works... Does this require someone at Brandmeister to configure an interlink once the XLX reflector is up and running? The page found here isn't particularly clear about this, at least to me. https://wiki.brandmeister.network/index.php/XLX Meanwhile, I have successfully gotten
MMDVM_Bridge connected to Brandmeister, though I have yet to
configure a static talk group on the Brandmeister dashboard for
the "hotspot."
That should get DMR audio to DSTAR, but
how does audio go the other way?

XlX will connect directly to a TG on BM or IPSC2 via interlink.

Thanks. That is a typical problem I have, over engineering things. I’ll try this.

Re: DSTAR to DMR, getting started
This is how I would do it:
Brandmeister TG <-> MMDVM_Bridge <-> XLX <-> ambed

Re: DSTAR to DMR, getting started
If you're transcoding on XLX already, you can use MB as a client to connect to Brandmeister. You don't need to go from DStar to Analog to Analog to DMR, you're over engineering the effort.

DSTAR to DMR, getting started
Patrick Perdue
Hello all:
I have been tasked with creating a cross-link between an XLX reflector for DSTAR and a Brandmeister DMR talk group. I have installed XLXD, ircDdbgateway and DVSwitch on a VPS. Ambed with two vocoders is running on a Debian machine at my house, verified connected to XLXD. As I understand it, the route should look like this: D-Star <---> ircddbgateway <---> MMDVM_Bridge <---. Analog_Bridge <---> Analog_Bridge <---> MMDVM_Bridge <---> DMR I have all these tools installed. I'm just looking for a basic outline on how to configure the two instances of MMDVM_Bridge and Analog_Bridge for this type of link. For that matter, I'm not sure if I have configured ircDdbgateway correctly, using a configuration template and ircDdbgatewayd, but I suppose that's technically out of the scope of this group. I found a guide for bridging P25 to DMR, but haven't come across a good resource for doing the same between DSTAR and DMR. I hate to be that guy that re-invents the wheel, but I'm just looking for a good starting-point. Thanks for any help. 733 de KE4DYI

Tom,
I use MB / AB to play newsletters, emcom alerts, etc which are recorded in wav files., and I need to change TG in scripts that are call in crontab 73 Waldek

Re: 1 Way Audio (XLX DMR to ASL)
How do you go direct? I guess just enter the 4001 under TG on DVS.ini or AB?
|
|
Re: 1 Way Audio (XLX DMR to ASL)
Ah, I gotcha. If it's DMR on XLX, then YSF can just go direct there without having to transcode through analog. I have a mindset that prefers not to daisy chain links, I like hub and spoke more. If one of the reflectors goes offline, I still have a path out somewhere and I'm not an island to myself. There's more than one way to skin a cat, as they say :)
