Re: NOOB Setup-Configuration Help #analog_bridge #dmrlink

Chris K7AZ

I'm now able to see the foreground running of MMDVM_Bridge.
It appears log-in to Master Failed.
BM does not show 310689107.
I set it to connect to 3103.repeater.net.

Open to further hints :)
Thank you, Chris K7AZ

The howto is a step by step. You should follow each step. The document had you CD to the directory before editing the .ini file.

Re: RF to RF bridge

Steve KC1AWV

If I am reading this right, I think what Neil is describing is a way for a DMR radio to talk with a Fusion radio, without needing to go to a reflector or other network. It's an interesting thought experiment, and here's what I think.

Pi-Star to Pi-Star, probably not. Pi-Star is designed from the ground up to talk to existing networks, and from what I've seen there's no 'easy' way of making two Pi-Star hotspots talk to each other in that fashion. Even going from mode to mode on Pi-Star (say, DMR radio to a YSF reflector) uses the MMDVM_CM tools, if I recall correctly.

Openspot has a hotspot-to-hotspot mode, but I believe it's limited to only passing same-mode traffic, like DMR to DMR. Having not done this myself, this is limited to speculation.

If you've got two Pi-Star hotspots already, you could have both of them connect to a central 'server' locally, running something like HBlink3. Connect one as a DMR hotspot to the HBlink master and the other hotspot as a DMR2YSF hotspot to the HBlink master. Kind of like this:

Pi-Star (DMR) <-> HBlink3 Master (Local) <-> Pi-Star (DMR2YSF)

This kind of setup I would consider an 'advanced' configuration, but I think it could work.

Going back on what Steve N4IRS said, where are you experiencing up to an 8 second delay on the Internet? Unless you're using dial-up or you're on the furthest reaches of a DSL line, I can't say I've seen latency that high in a long time.

Neil,

I don’t understand what you are trying to link to what. Where are you seeing a 8 second delay linking DMR to YSF?

Is there a way to make a RF to RF bridge without using the internet to crossmode between DMR and YSF? Can I link two PiStar setups locally without suffering internet latency ? Is it possible to use some other hardware to pull this off? Using the internet delays of up 8 seconds have been found. This makes the internet unreliable. The DMR side would be in my hamshack while the YSF side is reachable on very low power RF. This would save the needs to buy multiple radios for one YSF repeater.

Re: NOOB Setup-Configuration Help #analog_bridge #dmrlink

MMDVM_Bridge is the program that connects to BrandMeister. Let’s check it’s status:

systemctl status mmdvm_bridge

root@repeater:/etc/asterisk# systemctl status mmdvm_bridge

● mmdvm_bridge.service - MMDVM_Bridge Service

   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/mmdvm_bridge.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)

   Active: inactive (dead)

You will see the status of the mmdvm_bridge service

Good, MMDVM_Bridge is not running though it is enabled, meaning it will start at boot.

Change directory to /opt/MMDVM_Bridge

cd /opt/MMDVM_Bridge ß-----------------------------------------------

Let’s see what files are in the directory /opt/MMDVM_Bridge

ls

root@repeater:/etc/asterisk# cd /opt/MMDVM_Bridge/

root@repeater:/opt/MMDVM_Bridge# ls

DVSwitch.ini  MMDVM_Bridge  MMDVM_Bridge.ini

root@repeater:/opt/MMDVM_Bridge#

You will see the program and it’s two configuration files.

Re: HBmonitor and XLXPEERS support

Steve KC1AWV

I'm continuing work on HBmonitor3 - a Python 3 port of the original N0MJS HBmonitor.

The last bit that I worked on and seems to be hanging me up is dict.iteritems() is no longer in Python 3. According to some Google-foo and a Stack Overflow article, dict.items() in Python 3 does not have the same functionality that dict.iteritems() did.
view object isn't the same as iterator, so if you want to return an iterator in Py3.x, you could use iter(dictview)
This is the next hurdle. I'll be updating code as I have time available. If you want to collaborate on this effort with me, please submit code as a pull request on the github repository, found here: https://github.com/kc1awv/HBmonitor3

Re: Help Needed Allstar Node running DVSwitch with DMR and Echolink Bridge Adding P25

Jeff Wood

Thanks again Steve,

  I have been looking around the files and did find the P25 side and and ASL were using the same ports (I flipped) the P25 ports
[USRP]
address = 127.0.0.1
txPort = 34001
rxPort = 32001

Now I have P25 Transmissions from P25 to ASL and DMR, but still nothing from ASL or DMR back to P25...
I am sure its a port still looking....

HBmonitor and XLXPEERS support

It is a beauty.  My XLXPEER now displays as expected.

Thanks!

New PR on github to fix a typo I overlooked on line 213. Also removed a \t at the end of the same line.

Also, porting from python 2 to 3 is breaking. Twisted gives a 500 response, Request did not return bytes, and "Bad request" when trying to view the page. Still working on these issues.

Bytes objects were the biggest issue porting untils and HBlink. They’re frustrating.
