Chris,
I just tested your call and DMR ID on a VM. I have no problem logging in or staying logged in. I think it's time for you to start over fresh a fresh install.
The first thing you need to do after setting up a new VM is to make sure you have a ssh client and a e-mail clinet on the machine you are using to connect to the VM.
Cell phone pictures or transcribing by hand will not work if you are asking for help. I understand this may seem harsh but this trhread has 45 messages in it and I know we have too many working bridges for what you are experiencing to be a issue in MMDVM_Bridge. Please setup a environment where we can help you.

Changing the password is not going to do you any good. The password for US Masters is "passw0rd" It's either logging in or not. Are you really sure it's ever logging in? This is what a successful login looks like:

M: 2019-08-01 23:20:21.455 MMDVM_Bridge-20180423 is running
D: 2019-08-01 23:20:31.493 DMR, Sending authorisation
D: 2019-08-01 23:20:31.540 DMR, Sending configuration
M: 2019-08-01 23:20:31.586 DMR, Logged into the master successfully

In MMDVM_Bridge.ini  it is again showing connecting and disconnecting every 2 minutes.
Tweaking the master password again is not fixing that issue.

Any hints very much appreciated.   :)

Chris,
I just tested your call and DMR ID on a VM.

Chris,
I just tested your call and DMR ID on a VM.

Tweaking the master password again is not fixing that issue.

Any hints very much appreciated.   :)

Has anyone else experienced this?

Chris,
I just tested your call and DMR ID on a VM.

Chris,
You have a problem with your connection to the Master, simple as that. Have you tried another Master? PLEASE learn to capture the test and paste it into a e-mail. No more cell phone pictures.

Changing the password is not going to do you any good. The password for US Masters is "passw0rd" It's either logging in or not. Are you really sure it's ever logging in? This is what a successful login looks like:

M: 2019-08-01 23:20:21.455 MMDVM_Bridge-20180423 is running
D: 2019-08-01 23:20:31.493 DMR, Sending authorisation
D: 2019-08-01 23:20:31.540 DMR, Sending configuration
M: 2019-08-01 23:20:31.586 DMR, Logged into the master successfully

Tweaking the master password again is not fixing that issue.

Any hints very much appreciated.   :)

Re: DV3000 Use

Steve N4IRS

Tom,
I assume you mean with Analog_Bridge(AB).
AB can use either hardware or software vocoders. Some vocoders do a better job then others. Some of this depends on where AB is running. You can not use a hardware vocoder on a VM in the cloud. Some vocoders can decode/encode more DV modes then others.

DV3000 Hardware: D-Star, DMR, YSFn and NXDN
md380-emu: DMR, YSFn and NXDN
Built in (OP25) D-Star, DMR, YSFn, YSFw, NXDN and P25

For the supported modes, the DV3000 is the highest quality.
The md380-emu does a good job but does not support D-Star or P25
OP25 supports all DV modes. It is the only vocoder AB can use for P25 and YSFw. It does OK on DMR, YSFn and NXDN. It does a poor job on D-Star and I only suggest it be used with D-Star for testing.

Here are the 2 relevant stanzas in AB.ini

[GENERAL]

decoderFallBack = true                  ; Allow software AMBE decoding if a hardware decoder is not found

useEmulator = true                      ; Use the MD380 AMBE emulator for AMBE72 (DMR/YSFN/NXDN)
emulatorAddress = 127.0.0.1:2470        ; IP address and port of the md380 server

As detailed in the comment, if decoderFallBack is true AB will use a software vocoder if a hardwar vocoder is unavailable. if you are goiung to use md380-emu, the next 2 settings are self explanatory.

[DV3000]
; address = 127.0.0.1                  ; IP address of AMBEServer
; rxPort = 2460                        ; Port of AMBEServer
address = /dev/ttyUSB0                 ; Device of DV3000U on this machine
baud = 460800                          ; Baud rate of the dongle (230400 or 460800)
serial = true                          ; Use serial=true for direct connect or serial=false for AMBEServer

If serial is true, AB will attempt to use a locally connected DV3000. The address is the device port the DV3000 is available on and the baud rate for the current DV3000 from NWD is 460800.
If serial is false, AB expects a IP address and port for a AMBEServer.

See <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eN50Csr29eAprBu7eKA0Bfa2XUcsXw5iktY1Ey-Qjkg/edit> on page 16 for pretty much the same info expressed a different way.

Hope this helps,
 Steve N4IRS

Re: DV3000 Use

A DV3000 device is required when transcoding between two modulation modes, such as AMBE2+ and IMBE.

Simply put, if you have DStar anywhere in the mix, you'll need a DV3000 stick to transcode it to something else.

Hi,

I have a similar problem on one of my VM 64 Bits Debian 9.  I thought that I have internally problem with configuration but I can not find where is a problem. Sometimes help reboot but not always. It looks like time to time when starting md380-emu, I suppose that md380-emu is don't working correct but how to debug md380-emu?

I am building a DMR<--> ASL bridge on a VM. I have one system on one VM and the Bridge on another. I am using USRP to connect from the main ASL system to the VM/Bridge. I have done this before with a YSF reflector, using USRP to connect to AB on a second VM with the YSF reflector running on it with MB.

I have AB and MB on the bridge VM and have USRP connected properly. When I key up I can see the traffic flow in the right directions.

Problem is, I get this jackhammer, almost grinding sound when I key up from Either end. If i key from ASL, I have the grinding on DMR. Same thing if I key from the radio going to ASL.

This has happened before in the past and I was able to reload the system from a snapshot and the problem went away. My gut says it's something maybe with md380-emu?

Thoughts?
