temporarily switching from AMBE to software vocoders

Patrick Perdue

Hi all:

I am using XLXD and ambed with two ThumbDV's to bridge DMR to D STAR. XLXD is on a VPS, and I have a box in my apartment with the physical vocoders. Currently, the transcoding is done by XLXD connected to my remote ambed.

I'm moving soon, and need a way to keep the translation going for a week or two. What is the best way to shove everything to software on the VPS until I am settled, and can re-establish ambed?

Thanks and 73

Sgefault in MMDVM_Bridge

G7RPG - Peter Kendall

I've been experimenting using two instances of MMDVM_Bridge to connect a YSF reflector to an FCS reflector.

This is the setup

FCS <> YSFGateway <> MMDVM_Bridge <> MMDVM_Bridge <> YSFReflecor

All starts up fine but as soon as any traffic flows from the FCS reflector MMDVM_Bridge on that side of the link crashes instantly with this error

MMDVM_Bridge[8410]: segfault at 0 ip b7459b06 sp bfc61b04 error 4 in libc-2.24.so[b73db000+1b1000]

I've tried it on ARM and X64 with the same results.

Any ideas ?

Tony,
Analog_Bridge supports the NW Digital Radio PiDV™ (formerly DV3000) and ThumbDV. You can also use AMBEServer for hardware. Analog_Bridge supports md380-emu for AMBE and built in P25 and D-Star software emulation. If you want to use your  arduino+ambe3000 with Analog_bridge I suggest you check to see if it can be used with AMBEServer.

RULES.PY. I've tried it both ways, but either way it will ONLY bridge to ONE Talkgroup, it will not chose both:

First Attempt:

BRIDGES = {

I have built a NXDN to DMR bridge using the NXDN Reflector, NXDN Gateway and the MMDVM Bridge. I'm getting a weird error in the logs. Folks on DMR can hear the NXDN Reflector but nothing comes back to NXDN from DMR. I figured this error might have something to do with it and not sure what this means.

Yes I confirm the information was entered correctly.
the DVstick 30 transmit fine on C4FM, NXDN and P25.
Dmr and Dstar are the only issue.
The only issue which nags me is perhaps the DMR  id information get compromised somewhere within the DVswitch mobile or the raspberry.

Hi Mike and Steve

Is it known when you can expect a version of MMDVM_Bridge that will allow you to connect to XLX with selected module? (Options = XLX: 4003)

I also read in

https://dvswitch.groups.io/g/main/message/3899

Mike N4IRR has some comments on audio levels between the two modes and he is planning a writeup for the wiki. We also discussed the possibility of allowing adjusting the audio level in this type of bridge. Plans are in the works for a proof of concept over the next week or so.

Did you solve the problem of adjusting the audio levels between DMR and YSF?
Thanks to this, replacing the YSF2DMR application would be very useful for the quality of the connection between XLX DMR and YSF reflector

A DMR to P25 bridge will look like this:
BM <-> MB_DMR <-> AB_DMR <-> AB_P25 <-> MB_P25 <-> P25Gateway <-> P25Reflector

You can use one instance of MB for both DMR and P25
The DMR mode of MB will feed the AB for DMR
The P25 mode will feed AB for P25
You will need to have two instances of AB

We need to see the traffic flow all the way through the bridge. Start with clean logs of ALL the instances.
Bring up the programs and transmit on DMR ONE time.
Stop all the programs.
Show each of the following logs:
MB_DMR
AB_DMR
AB_P25
MB_P25

Please keep each log in a seperate file. They should be plain text files.
We may then request copies of a config file. Same requirement, a plain text file.

This is a port map of a DMR <-> P25 bridge.

I made that change. Was able to connect to DMR now. Keyed up. Here are the results. Still nothing coming over the AB's

Here's the logs you requested. I only have one instance of MMDVM bridge

Jake,
A DMR to P25 bridge will look like this:
BM <-> MB_DMR <-> AB_DMR <-> AB_P25 <-> MB_P25 <-> P25Gateway <-> P25Reflector
