Welcome to DVSwitch
Purpose
1) Allows “local” networking during an outage of the regional national/international network server.
2) Allows a local network operator to “blend” upstream feeds from different Networks (capital N on purpose). These Networks can’t get their act together and learn how to play nice with each other (everyone guilty as far as we are concerned). They may not like people doing this, but the solution is to grow up and work with each other, and not keep trying to force people to take sides.
3) Allows local segregation of localized traffic with more flexibility.
4) Allows experimentation with linking and how it’s done (part 97 specifies experimentation and advancement of the radio art are a core part of amateur radio).
Mission Statement/Position
WHEREAS the Networks continue to be largely islands and are not working together to create a unified network of Networks.
WHEREAS no firm reason has been given by any of the Networks why a *competent* local network operator cannot make this work effectively.
(US ONLY)
WHEREAS 47 CFR 97 (Amateur Radio Service) specifies that a core component of amateur radio is experimentation and advancement of the radio art [97.1(b)].
BE IT RESOLVED the core group of US amateur radio operators and experimenters organized around the DVSwitch project, and in the spirit of USA 47 CFR 97 and its intentions, support the *responsible* and *thoughtful* use of digital voice networking tools to create localized networks that will interconnect to the national/international Networks, and will support users of its tools in order to do this in the most effective and sustainable way possible.

Re: Analog Bridge and DStar

Steve, Have you had DTMF working on the setup? DSTAR to All-Star? I can hear them going through but not working. Also I can not control the volume. Is this normal? I do want to get hb-link running since I have this running. I only have one dvboard, I think I need to get another one to get this to work correctly correct? Thanks, Ryan (KB8PMY)

DummyRepeater and ASL on the same machine? The export variables: export USRP_IP="127.0.01";export USRP_IP $ export USRP_TXPORT=34001;export USRP_TXPORT $ export USRP_RXPORT=32001;export USRP_RXPORT This should connect to ASL if it is set to 127.0.0 1 in the rpt.conf channel driver setting. ASSUMING ASL and DR or on the same machine.

Steve Z: I have Dummy Repeater speaking to ircddbgateway. Done. Either of 2 ways works: Preferences--> Network--> Local Address = 0.0.0.0 or 192.168.1.10 I've had this working for a while now. It's the part about DummyRepeater --> Asterisk that is not working yet. My thought it to change the USRP in /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf to 192.168.1.10, and restart asterisk and it would work. There must be more to it. Mike

Re: Analog Bridge and DStar
Steven Blackford
Mike, Sorry, I'm still trying to catch up on the thread, but go back to our original exchanges. Look at the config files I included. You compiled DummyRepeater correctly. Drop me an email w/ your contact info. I have some time today. We can chat on the phone & try to get you up & running. Steve & Mike are right though. Once you get DummyRepeater talking w/ ircDDBGateway, you're in the home stretch. :-) In the meantime, I'll finish reading though the thread & get caught up on your layout of the network. I'm doing something similar. I have ircDDBGateway running on 192.168.0.250. I have modules enabled. Port A is going to my AllStar/EchoLink node on 192.168.0.238. I have Port D going to 192.168.0.240, and port B is running on the same PI as ircDDBGateway which is 192.168.0.250. Look @ my ircDDBGateway config file & both the DummyRepeater config files. You have to make sure you specify the 192.x addresses & proper ports in the ircDDBGateway & Dummy Repeater. Anyway, if you have time, shoot me an email or hit me up on Google Hangouts. kb7sqi@... 73 de K4SQI! Steve, K4SQI

There are quite a few addresses involved I need to know where
127.0.0.1 is not working.

If IRCDDBGateway and DummyRepeater are NOT on the same machine, you can not use 127.0.0.1 Make a working link between ircDDBGateway and DummyRepeater first.
