Change source module - MMDVM_Bridge > DMRGateway > XLX

N0KEG

Hey everyone,

I've been successfully using the DVSwitch program suite for a while now, so thanks for all your hard work!  One thing I can't figure out though...  I have several links using the same callsign going into an XLX machine.  I'd like to change the module on the source side so it's easier to tell them apart.  Like CALLSIGN-Y for my YSF2DMR link, CALLSIGN-A for my analog link, etc...  Right now they all show up as the B module.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks and 73,
N0KEG

Access to a Fusion FCS room #dmrlink

Denny Johnson <dennyj@...>

Hi,
I'm trying to connect to the QSO America room on FCS but can't find it in the dropdown menu using my RT4.
So, I'm thinking I can add a macro for QSO America but need to know how to format it. What I'm doing doesn't seem to connect.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary,
Thanks for reminding me about the audio level problem. The issue kinda dropped off our radar. I know Mike is reading this and we will at least get this back on the list to investigate.

Hi Erine,

How many end points do you typically have on your network using this configuration? How is the audio level balance between DMR and YSF? Do you experience and issue with Brandmeister user block message?

This is my setup.
Wires-X - OpenSpot 1 (YSF)
                                   MMDVM_Bridge YSF to DMR (BM)

The DMR audio is ~ 30% louder then YSF, audio. We probably experience the BrandMeister User Blocked message a few times per week.

73,
...Gary, KE8O

We have on average 26 connections on Wires-X, 40 YSF, no visibility into the number of users on DMR.

.

Re: need to find a way to link hblink or ysf or mmdvmbridge to wires x room

Hello Gary

I don't see any user blocked messages on Brandmeister.
Audio can be controlled by getting users to adjust their settings. Most have there mic gain turned up for c4fm. And most users here have Chinese radios for dmr which are not to loud. Anybody comming into the system with a commercial radio will soon be told to back off the mic.
XLX controls the audio from Dstar and Dmr.

Total users change from day to day.
40 nodes or gateways on wires-x
70 on fcs
70 on Ysf
30 on dmr

We have also got peanut, zello, teamspeak, allstar and echolink all connected. The audio from these links can be quite good depending on what equipment is being used.

Re: need to find a way to link hblink or ysf or mmdvmbridge to wires x room

Hello Brandmeister is a direct link to XLX .

Bring in Dmr plus using two MB plus Dmrgateway to swap from slot 1 to 2.
One instance of MB for ysf to dmr.
Hblink connects to XLX.

Peanut and Dstar via ambed XLX

Hello Ernie,

I'd like to get something like this working as well (no interest in using the YSF side of things per se) so I'm very interested in this thread.

Your diagram didn't seem to render correctly for me here but are you saying you're connecting to a WiresX room using an OpenSpot2?  It also looks like you're going between WiresX and BrandMiester via D-star.  That means you're unnecessarily transcoding across different versions of the AMBE codec which will create a loss of audio fidelity.  Is there any way to keep all this within the native AMBE codec version so the audio between the WiresX and DMR universes as good as possible?

I have found this setup to be the most stable. Audio quality back and fourth from all networks are great.

hi .I run hblink  ysfref and wires x room. i know taht bm are able to bridge dmr2wires x room. but for my network i would like to make my own bridge between wires x and ysf or hblink  or watherver. )except using openspot thats what im doing right now )in the moment the problem was when bm fail i lost my link between ysf and wires x. anybody find a way to bridge wires x directly to one  of the open sources like ysfrefl or something like that ?

From what program are you trying to get data from?

Could anyone suggest how to get the callsign from the command line when the RX begins?

Re: EA5GVK with Zumspot AMBE Server...

In addition, additional network changes might be required depending on where you will use DVSwitch mobile.

If the Ambe Server is installed in the house, and you want to use DVSwitch mobile from outside, then you probably need to set up port forwarding in your router for the unit.

Re: EA5GVK with Zumspot AMBE Server...

ve6gcd@...

I also tried MD380emu before but I prefer the Zum Ambe Server as the audio conversion to DMR is like night and day between the two.

However, when I used it for YSF I noticed some popping sound in between transmissions. This does not happen when on DMR mode.

I do not believe that this is hardware related. Please note that the Zum Ambe Board was only introduced recently, so probably the Analog_Bridge software needs to be modified for YSF to work well on the new hardware.

Thus, in the meantime I use Zum Ambe Server for DMR. And for YSF, I configured Analog_Bridge to use ThumbDV on serial mode.

Re: EA5GVK with Zumspot AMBE Server...

Ok. I didn't know about that part of analog_bridge.ini. What I'm aiming for is to use the AMBE board rather than md380emu and be able to use the DV-Switch mobile app. It was my understanding that using an AMBE device would allow it to work better on D-Star, etc.

Can you tell me what do you want to do with it on the Pi?

I used the Zum Ambeboard as vocoder hardware for Analog_Bridge. So upon inserting the configured SD card (Ambe Server mode with IP address 192.168.1.230 and port 2460) to the Zum Ambeboard, I plugged the Ethernet data cable to the unit then powered it on. Afterwards, I configured the Analog_Bridge.ini with the following lines:

[DV3000]
address = 192.168.1.230                ; IP address of AMBEServer
rxPort = 2460                                  ; Port of AMBEServer
; address = /dev/ttyUSB0                ; Device of DV3000U on this machine
; baud = 460800                              ; Baud rate of the dongle (230400 or 460800)
serial = false                                    ; Use serial=true for direct connect or serial=false for AMBEServer

I had that part done, but I wasn't sure if there was anything special to do on the Pi. I selected the AMBE device, etc, but wasn't getting anywhere on DMR or other modes.

I setup one before, you just need to set it up using the configurator in the Zum website. Afterwards you just copy the created file to the included SD card, insert it to the ambeboard and you should be good to go
