Is there a simple way for Bridging a Brandmeister TG to an XLX Reflector (new 2020 Version)

Uli

"Simple" question:
How do I bridge a BM Talkgroup to an XLX Reflector. Do I really need 2 instances of MMDVM_Bridge? How do MMDVM_Bridge.ini and DVSwitch.ini look like?
I have successfully bridged a YSF Reflector with one instance of DVSwitch/MMDVM_Bridge to a BM Talkgroup in another project.
Is there a similar way to do this with my XLX Reflector running the new 2020 version?
The XLX Reflector works fine with C4FM and D-Star (using Ambe Server), connecting to DMR XLX via TG6 works fine too.
Now I want to make it easy to our DMR users here so that they just can work with the local TG they are used to.

thanks for any advice

Ken,

Good morning, there is no download link from the website, you do the update from the menus. You do it the same way you upgraded from version 9.0 to 9.02.

Okay, I'm glad.
So do you have to modify the binary? Or not?

It might be a bit tricky to automate this, need to append today's date and get a cron job for this...

Ok, I've also noticed that after that error or bug occurs the Analog_Bridge is restarted

Please show the startup for MMDVM_Bridge, example:

I have noticed that if in the DVSwitch.ini I disable the Message = line, then it works perfectly.
I'm working with Ircddbgateway from Jonathan's github G4KLX.

New Binary Analog Bridge and MMDVM Bridge with Ircddbgateway gives me problems.

With the new binaries Analog Bridge and MMDVM Bridge, and ircddbgateway I can't transmit with dvswitch is this problem.
However, with the previous binaries Dstar worked perfectly.
Because it can happen. Thank you

Edited

For any of the auto rotated file, here is my first shot:
touch /var/log/mmdvm/MMDVM_Bridge.log

Add this to MMDVM_Bridge in /etc/logrotate.d

/var/log/mmdvm/MMDVM_Bridge.log
{
daily
rotate 30
maxage 30
dateext
dateformat -%Y-%m-%d
extension .log
ifempty
create

firstaction
today=$(date +"%Y-%m-%d")
filename="/var/log/mmdvm/MMDVM_Bridge-$today.log"
if [ -f "$filename" ]; then
mv /var/log/mmdvm/MMDVM_Bridge-$today.log /var/log/mmdvm/MMDVM_Bridge.log
fi
endscript

}

There are a number of other ways to do this but I like this one so far.
Mike and I will discuss "releasing the AB.log" (if it's even needed)

BM<->XLX noob question

Andy M0VVA

I am trying to bridge a BM TG23594 to my XLX994 reflector, following the guide "BM to XLX via MMDVM Bridge (DV Switch distribution) on Debian 9.pdf" to the letter (I believe).

I can see the XLX side connected fine in the reflector dashboard and there is no error in the log on the BM DMRGateway side.  I am not seeing any traffic from either direction routing through this setup.  I can only imagine I need to create inbound firewall rules to my server but cannot find documented the exact ports I need to open.

Can anyone offer any advice?

For reference the logs are:

Analog_Bridge log files

I am running 2 instances of  Analog_Bridge and  MMDVM_Bridge on  a Debian9   VPS server installation.

They have their own log file  .

All log files are  are running OK  but  size of Analog_Bridge.log  and number  of files  for MMDVM_Bridge-2020-mm-dd.log  are getting out of hand .

Can   anyone tell me if there is  some logrotate files  avalable to put in /etc/logrotate.d  to  clean up these  log files.

Thanks  Richard VE2DJE

pop and jitter at the start of transmissions from DMR

Patrick Perdue

Hi:

This is nothing new, but I'm trying to figure out where it's coming from.

At the start of each DMR transmission, when listening on Allstar, there is a small pop sound. I've been on some other Allstar nodes that appear to be using a similar configuration, though I don't know for sure, which don't exhibit this behavior. This occurs regardless of whether or not I am using hardware or software AMBE vocoding.

Perhaps related, but maybe not, lately, at the start of DMR transmissions, there is sometimes severe jitter for about the first second of audio, then everything is fine for the rest of the transmission. This is a problem if someone quickly keys to give a callsign, then unkeys again. Perfectly understandable with a DMR radio, but these very short transmissions end up completely broken on the other side of Analog_Bridge.

This could very well be attributed to the Brandmeister server I'm using. I'll investigate this some more. It may even be an ASL issue. This bridge is off-site, connecting to a larger Allstar node on a VPS, but directly connecting to the private node hosting the bridge through iaxrpt suggests that the connection to my larger node is not the problem.

I'm using the latest versions of MMDVM_Bridge and Analog_Bridge from Github as of this writing. Analog_Bridge.ini is all defaults, with the exception of txTg and AGC setting ,which are not relevant to this set of problems as far as I can tell.

Raspberry Pi 2 running ASL and DVSwitch, ThumbDV via AMBEserver. I also tried using a direct serial connection to the dongle from A_B, which worked about the same as using AMBEserver as far as I could tell. I have also tried playing with the jitter parameter of MMDVM_Bridge, but ended up setting it back to 360.
