Welcome to DVSwitch
Purpose
1) Allows “local” networking during an outage of the regional national/international network server.
2) Allows a local network operator to “blend” upstream feeds from different Networks (capital N on purpose). These Networks can’t get their act together and learn how to play nice with each other (everyone guilty as far as we are concerned). They may not like people doing this, but the solution is to grow up and work with each other, and not keep trying to force people to take sides.
3) Allows local segregation of localized traffic with more flexibility.
4) Allows experimentation with linking and how it’s done (part 97 specifies experimentation and advancement of the radio art are a core part of amateur radio).
Mission Statement/Position
WHEREAS the Networks continue to be largely islands and are not working together to create a unified network of Networks.
WHEREAS no firm reason has been given by any of the Networks why a *competent* local network operator cannot make this work effectively.
(US ONLY)
WHEREAS 47 CFR 97 (Amateur Radio Service) specifies that a core component of amateur radio is experimentation and advancement of the radio art [97.1(b)].
BE IT RESOLVED the core group of US amateur radio operators and experimenters organized around the DVSwitch project, and in the spirit of USA 47 CFR 97 and its intentions, support the *responsible* and *thoughtful* use of digital voice networking tools to create localized networks that will interconnect to the national/international Networks, and will support users of its tools in order to do this in the most effective and sustainable way possible.
Re: analog-DMR bridge DMR-MARC connection
#analog_bridge
No, but it will get you set up with ASL and Analog_Bridge. Then you will need to connect IPSC_Bridge

One of the three TG's that I'm interested in on DMR-MARC is listed (Lonestar). The two that were not (Dillo and Cactus) are private intertie related TG's. So, I'm not surprised that they weren't there.
The link to "ASL to DMR bridge how to" details the MMDVM_Bridge setup. Is there a similar how to doc that addresses the IPSC_bridge setup instead of MMDVM?

I was just reminded that many of the DMARC TGs are available on DMR+
which MMDVM_Bridge will connect to. I would check if the TGs you
want are available on DMR+

Thank you.
Yes looks like I was making the assumption that DV4Mini, had a vocoder, but doesn't. What I need is a USB vocoder widget like the THUMBDV or equivalent.

Re: analog-DMR bridge DMR-MARC connection

Jeff, I have an older ASL-DMR bridge running with a DV3000 running with access to two cbridge connections (since 2015). As long as I maintain full quieting access to my allstarlink node, there will be no issues. It’s just a long range ‘wireless microphone’ before digitizing and vocoding. So, that isn’t a problem in my case. Steve helped me with that configuration five years ago. That used dmrlink and ambe_audio.
The old bridge works flawlessly on established TG connections. The issue I’m running into is, in some cases, switching [section] stanza’s in ambe_audio.cfg (stays on the current TG).
A hardware AMBE vocoder, like the DV3000, provides high quality audio. It’s not clear to me how to use the DV3000 with DVSwitch and configure the software modules. Is there a detailed ‘how to’ doc for starting with an ASL node running on Debian Stretch and a Pi 3B+?

Re: analog-DMR bridge DMR-MARC connection

Jeff Lehman, N8ACL
You will probably want to do a separate asl node from your bm connection. From past experience bm would prefer you not bridging networks. So you may want to setup a separate public asl node to connect to to do that.

Tom,

The connection to a c-Bridge would be through IPSC_Bridge rather then MMDVM_Bridge. It would look like this for ASL: ASL <-> Analog_Bridge <-> IPSC_Bridge <-> c-Bridge. Steve N4IRS

Re: DV4Mini and DVswitch?
Yes, a hardware vocoder is preferred. The question is about a DV4 Mini. Different device. DV4 Mini radio not usable with DVSwitch.

I've been using a ThumbDV and it's working quite well. Nice, clear audio. Is it worlds better than the MD380 emulator? Nah. But it's good.

DVSwitch and Bluetooth
Barry G4MKT
I recently started to use DVSwitch with Allstar and just tried to set up a Bluetooth headset to work mobile with, having seen the option in the settings.
What I was not expecting was the 'Not yet implemented' message. Is this a work in progress? If so, is there any progress I wonder? Also it is rather a nuisance to have to keep switching screens to see whether there is a current connection, and to which node(s). Would it be possible to add at least some minimal connection status to the same screen as the PTT, after all there is a lot of empty space on the dialer screen. Cheers, Barry G4MKT -- Barry G4MKT

Re: Add XLX reflectors to Dstar
Derek William Haden <facebook@...>
One other thing I did work out, well at least for the image I am using on the Rpi.
I had to change directory before running the pushfile cd /opt/Analog_Bridge
then
./dvswitch.sh pushfile /tmp/DMR_node_list.txt
Worked. Many thanks again, I am always grateful that there are folk in this world smarter than me.

Yes I worked out that it was a syntax error, many thanks.

Re: MMDVM Bridge: Need for DMR Id Lookup?
Dan K2IE
Thanks Steve.
Interestingly, when I comment either the file pointer or the complete stanza, this still shows up in the log... "Started the DMR Id lookup reload thread" Perhaps a more ideal situation would not to even start the lookup thread if the file pointer and/or stanza is missing. Thoughts?

Re: Add XLX reflectors to Dstar
Use pushFile, I was looking at the function name not the command name.

Re: MMDVM Bridge: Need for DMR Id Lookup?
One reason I can see is for logging. Easier to lookup a callsign
then a DMR ID when debugging.

MMDVM Bridge: Need for DMR Id Lookup?
Dan K2IE
I'm running an MMDVM Bridge instance as part of an Asterisk <--> HBlink connector.
I cannot think of any reason why I'd need MMDVM Bridge to lookup DMR IDs in either direction for this purpose. So, what is the most efficient way to disable lookups and not waste any cycles on this? Or, if I've overlooked a good reason to do the lookups, what have I missed? 73, Dan

Re: Add XLX reflectors to Dstar
This is what the "developers" sent:

- Create your reflector list (a text file) in /tmp called DSTAR_node_list.txt - The file is a list of reflectors and human readable names: REF001CL|||REF001 C Where the REF001CL (for example) is REF 001 Charlie Link and REF001 C is the text you will see on the DVSM menu I would suggest your first entry be: " U|||Unlink" Without the quotes, but including all spaces (they are significant) - Once you have /tmp/DSTAR_node_list.txt created, upload it to your device with a) make sure DVSM is running 2) make sure Analog_Bridge is also running execute: ./dvswitch.sh pushFileToClient /tmp/DSTAR_node_list.txt Done
