Welcome to DVSwitch
Purpose
1) Allows “local” networking during an outage of the regional national/international network server.
2) Allows a local network operator to “blend” upstream feeds from different Networks (capital N on purpose). These Networks can’t get their act together and learn how to play nice with each other (everyone guilty as far as we are concerned). They may not like people doing this, but the solution is to grow up and work with each other, and not keep trying to force people to take sides.
3) Allows local segregation of localized traffic with more flexibility.
4) Allows experimentation with linking and how it’s done (part 97 specifies experimentation and advancement of the radio art are a core part of amateur radio).
Mission Statement/Position
WHEREAS the Networks continue to be largely islands and are not working together to create a unified network of Networks.
WHEREAS no firm reason has been given by any of the Networks why a *competent* local network operator cannot make this work effectively.
(US ONLY)
WHEREAS 47 CFR 97 (Amateur Radio Service) specifies that a core component of amateur radio is experimentation and advancement of the radio art [97.1(b)].
BE IT RESOLVED the core group of US amateur radio operators and experimenters organized around the DVSwitch project, and in the spirit of USA 47 CFR 97 and its intentions, support the *responsible* and *thoughtful* use of digital voice networking tools to create localized networks that will interconnect to the national/international Networks, and will support users of its tools in order to do this in the most effective and sustainable way possible.
Re: P25 to DMR issue
OK, so no, you don't have QB running. Do this as root:

stop both Analog_Bridges stop MMDVM_Bridge cd /opt/MMDVM_Bridge ./MMDVM_Bridge MMDVM_Bridge.ini capture the TOTAL output and post it. Steve

Nothing calls DVSwitch.ini it configures the TLV IO ports for each
mode of MMDVM_Bridge.

Did you edit Analog_Bridge.ini or DVSwitch.ini?

Re: P25 to DMR issue
Steve,
Thanks, I made the changes ... but.. I guess that I am missing something very obvious and don't see it OR I am dense! I now get the can't open RXport 34100 which changed from 34103 when I changed it per your email. I am still unsure how or where DVSwitch.ini is called or what calls it. Don WB5EKU

Re: P25 to DMR issue
Don, This is what you have now:

AB_DMR DVSwitch.ini [AMBE_AUDIO] [DMR] address = 127.0.0.1 <-> Address = 127.0.0.1 txPort = 31103 <------> RXPort = 31103 rxPort = 31100 <------> TXPort = 31100 ambeMode = DMR AB_P25 [P25] [AMBE_AUDIO] Address = 127.0.0.1 <-> address = 127.0.0.1 TXPort = 34100 <------> rxPort = 31100 <<<<<<< Error! RXPort = 34103 <------> txPort = 31100 <<<<<<< Error! I have highlighted the error above.
Your connection from MMDVM_Bridge (DvSwitch.ini) is using the
wrong ports. They can't communicate.
It should look like this: AB_DMR DVSwitch.ini [AMBE_AUDIO] [DMR] address = 127.0.0.1 <-> Address = 127.0.0.1 txPort = 31103 <------> RXPort = 31103 rxPort = 31100 <------> TXPort = 31100 ambeMode = DMR AB_P25 [P25] [AMBE_AUDIO] Address = 127.0.0.1 <-> address = 127.0.0.1 TXPort = 34100 <------> rxPort = 34100 RXPort = 34103 <------> txPort = 34103 Steve, N4IRS

DVSwitch.ini and MMDVM_Bridge.ini are the two configuration files
used by MMDVM_Bridge.

Hello, Patrick. Where may I find this faster voice? And yes, this telemetry issue is a very big nag on busy nodes. Thanks for posting your solution.

Patrick,
Thank you for the suggestions, they really help. It truly makes a huge difference on a busy node. Jay

Re: Allstar voice ID's
Patrick Perdue
A few things you can do: In /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf: 1. Change the value of telemdefault. 0 = no telemetry, with the
exception of initial connect failure messages, 1=on (default),
2=telemetry only for the first couple of minutes after you issue a
command, like connect, disconnect, status, etc. If you use this
method, and you connect to a busy network before a net, connect at
least 10 minutes prior to the net. 2. Change the over-all gain of telemetry. There are two values here: telemnomdb=0 changes the over-all volume of all telemetry. 0 is unity. Change to negative values to turn it down. telemduckdb=-9Changes the volume of telemetry only when it occurs while someone is transmitting. You may also want to make sure holdofftelem is set to 1. This
insures that no telemetry happens until there are no
transmissions. As a side-note, this is also why I got
rid of Allison and replaced her with a much faster voice, which is
about 3.5 times the speed.
