Welcome to DVSwitch
Purpose
1) Allows “local” networking during an outage of the regional national/international network server.
2) Allows a local network operator to “blend” upstream feeds from different Networks (capital N on purpose). These Networks can’t get their act together and learn how to play nice with each other (everyone guilty as far as we are concerned). They may not like people doing this, but the solution is to grow up and work with each other, and not keep trying to force people to take sides.
3) Allows local segregation of localized traffic with more flexibility.
4) Allows experimentation with linking and how it’s done (part 97 specifies experimentation and advancement of the radio art are a core part of amateur radio).
Mission Statement/Position
WHEREAS the Networks continue to be largely islands and are not working together to create a unified network of Networks.
WHEREAS no firm reason has been given by any of the Networks why a *competent* local network operator cannot make this work effectively.
(US ONLY)
WHEREAS 47 CFR 97 (Amateur Radio Service) specifies that a core component of amateur radio is experimentation and advancement of the radio art [97.1(b)].
BE IT RESOLVED the core group of US amateur radio operators and experimenters organized around the DVSwitch project, and in the spirit of USA 47 CFR 97 and its intentions, support the *responsible* and *thoughtful* use of digital voice networking tools to create localized networks that will interconnect to the national/international Networks, and will support users of its tools in order to do this in the most effective and sustainable way possible.
Re: Cloud hosting
I seem to have hit a trip wire of some sort (maybe first month free) but have exceeded BW limit in first few days of billing period and account is suspended due to exceeding BW limit. Reverted to vultr accounts.

P25 receive audio distortion with P25 / DMR bridge
David Young
I am having an audio problem when using DVSwitch to bridge DMR to P25. Audio from P25 to DMR sounds normal, but audio from DMR to P25 is very garbled and almost sounds like two digital transmissions are occurring at the same time. I have installed the P25 / DMR bridge on 3 different Pi3b and Pi4's and have never had this problem. This installation is being done on a cloud server and I have not been able to figure out why the audio is so garbled and distorted. I am attaching the two analog bridge logs and all the associated *.ini files. Any help would be appreciated.

yes, the ambeserver is started by a systemd unit file. I am out most of day tomorrow, but will give it a try before the weekend.

Re: 2 DMR networks

Perhaps not on opposing time slots BUT interchangeably (one or the other).
AFAIK the limitation to operating one network versus having two simultatiously is more complex of an issue.

Re: Stacato audio on DVSM
I don't know if you use a systemd unit file to start/stop/restart
your AMBEServer.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
If you do, You could add: ExecStartPre = /bin/sh -c 'echo "1" >> /sys/bus/usb-serial/devices/ttyUSB0/latency_timer' to the [SERVICE] stanza in the unit file that controls AMBEServer

OK if I restart everything, from fresh reboot, with AB configured for ambe server, but ambe server not yet started. start amber server and restart AB So I am guessing that somehow the command echo 1 > /sys/bus/usb-serial/devices/ttyUSB0/latency_timer

So I copied from another location and replaced the DVSwitch.ini file and edited the two ports. And it is working now. No clue what caused the issue, but it is working again!

If all yuo want is ASL access, then use IAX protocol.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Analog_Bridge uses USRP to connect to an analog client. That client can be ASL or DVS but not both. If you wanted to connect ASL to Digital Voice, you connect ASL via USRP to AB. If you want to add DVSM, you can connect to ASL via IAX. Steve N4IRS
