Because it's all digital. No need for a Analog component.

Skyler,

I'm sorry that your experience with M17 hasn't been as stellar as some may expect. Please, understand that the protocol is still very much in its infancy, and there are many people working on the protocol to improve it.

As of now, there are no plans by the M17 Working Group on implementing any sort of cross-mode / cross-protocol capability, as the protocol is still not finished. There are several projects working on doing so, but again these are all very much in an 'alpha' stage. If you would like to participate or know more about the progress, you may visit the website or join us on our chat channels to further the discussion there.

Thanks!

Copy,

The mode kinda sucks anyway, I love the codec being open source but it sounds like garbage, my ears have to strain to understand some people depending on if their voice fits the codecs ideals.

We need a mode that runs 8-10kbps over ham radio, the bands are wide open, there's no traffic and we have plenty of bandwidth on UHF for example. We're not commercial, and not running out of space.

Sure, we might be running out of repeater coordinations in large cities but just because we have full coordinations, does not mean people are using them...

I would love to see an implementation of G.729 or similar directly over RF.

Not really sure what exactly module im missing i followed the "quick setup" guide i found on the group with the NEW packages....

Speaking of switch. Steve, are we able to run 2 instances of MMDVM bridge and analog bridge? What I’m trying to do is bring my ysf reflector and my dmr TG together. I’ll send it to the switch group as well.

We could do with a step by step plan or something on how this can be done because we aren’t all geniuses. Lots of people want this functionality especially for repeater keepers running websites who want the allmon dashboard in built in there website. It would be good to have a step by step so that we aren’t guessing!

Also this would teach how allmon interfaces with asterisk and it would be good to have some technical advice on how to implement or embed it onto a basic webpage hosted elsewhere.

IFrame would do it but if SSL used for WP site you need the Allmon Dashboard SSL protected as well.

What could have caused this series of 0 second transmissions? #mmdvm_bridge #brandmeister

@hamzahradio

Hello and thanks for reading,

I was looking at the log of transmissions on my YSF Reflector which is bridged to DMR using MMDVM Bridge.

A series of 0 second transmissions from 1 to 2am were detected, but on brandmeister last heard nothing is present.
https://brandmeister.network/?page=lh&DestinationID=73583

These transmissions originated from the DMR side and the log below is from the yaesu fusion reflector.

Any ideas what could have caused this and how to fix/prevent it?

Many thanks

Re: Controlling DVSwitch from AllStar

Steve N4IRS

Here is a update to the tgtune context in extensions.conf. I wanted to make sure Allison did not leak out into digital and it seems to work. I still suggest you test it on your system before connecting to a busy TG / reflector and get yelled at.

[tgtune]
exten = _X.,1,noop ; Wait,1
exten = _X.,n,System(/opt/MMDVM_Bridge/dvswitch.sh mute TLV)
exten = _X.,n,Playback(connecting)
exten = _X.,n,SayDigits(${EXTEN})
exten = _X.,n,System(/opt/MMDVM_Bridge/dvswitch.sh tune ${EXTEN})
exten = _X.,n,System(/opt/MMDVM_Bridge/dvswitch.sh mute OFF)
exten = _X.,n,Hangup

Allison will announce the TG you are connecting to. I'll say it again, test before you put into production.

Switching DMR networks, is just a tune command.
/opt/MMDVM_Bridge/dvswitch.sh "tune passw0rd@tgif.network:62031"
assign a DTMF sequence to that just like disconnect...

Good question.  I'm only running BM, but there will be a sequence of
commands, because you will most likely want to unlink ("disconnect")
from the old TG, before linking to the new one.

make sure you have the private node setup to work best with DVSwitch.

disconnect command (dvswitch.sh tune unlink) really doesn't seem to do
much, but all the others are working.  In a sense, it's no biggie,
because I can always take down the private node link when issuing the
unlink command and bring it up when selecting a DV mode.
