Re: IPSC_Bridge<->HB_Bridge on VirMach VPS Question

Steve N4IRS

Jon,
I can tell you I have 2 VirMach VPS running DVSwitch Server without a problem. I am running what amounts to an analog bridge to service DVSwitch clients (DVSM, pyUC and hUC) so, it looks like this:

client <-> Analog_Bridge <-> MMDVM_Bridge <-> Gateway(s) or DMR Masters

I am also running a install of HBlink3 connected to BM via OpenBridge servicing hotspots.
I have done this on Debian 9 and I have also done a in place upgrade to Debian 10.
Does netstat -unap show anything?
netcat helps to troubleshoot some of these type of issues.

You may want to ask on the HBlink subgroup at <https://dvswitch.groups.io/g/HBlink/topics>

Hope this helps,
Steve N4IRS

Has anyone by chance managed to get IPSC_Bridge<->HB_Bridge to run on a VirMach VPS (Elite+ LITE Package) with Debian 9 OS?

I have tried on and off for more than a year to try to get it to work.  Prior to moving the system to the VPS I bench tested it on a RPi running Debian 9 and it worked fine.

I set it up on the VPS, everything runs with no complaints BUT the dmrlink & hblink to not "talk" to one another.  Thinking as I always do... I wonder what I did wrong because the machine is never at fault it is always the human... right?

To prove myself wrong I took the exact same configuration and installed it on a different system, in this case a VM also running Debian 9 and it works fine.  I even replicated the bridge 5 times for different connections and they all have worked flawlessly for over a year.

The VirMach VPS is their low end service, the lowest end service Value+ LITE did not have enough memory (512MB) to load so I bumped up to the Elite+ LITE (1GB) and everything loads fine.

What appears to be the problem is that the internal in IPSC_Bridge fromGatewayPort = 31000 & toGatewayPort = 31003 don't communicate with HB_Bridge ports fromGatewayPort = 31003 & toGatewayPort = 31000

Since the exact same configuration works fine on other systems it would appear that the problem is somewhere in the architecture of the VPS.

Anyone have any ideas or been successful using VirMach for bridging?

Ok Steve, so, apparently this is a false alarm. I've just been told that a new NXDN id takes time to propagate across the servers/boards/whatever and the funny thing is that meanwhile the system assigns a random (?) callsign (wtf?) to the user until after a few days/hours the thing is fixed.

Sorry for the false alarm! And thanks for your prompt reply. And thanks Bruno for the heads up.

Mike.

Hello Mike,

your NXDN ID is missing from the NXDN.csv file

Oggetto: [DVSwitch] NXDN bug: it shows the callsign of a Japanese ham

I just finished installing dvswitch server and everything seems to be working fine, except when I key up in NXDN: instead of my callsign, it's shown the callsign of a Japanese ham!!!!!!!
This happens on every tg I go in NXDN. (Luckily in the other modes my callsign is properly shown).
This is crazy because I have no idea where dvswitch gets such information!!
Can it be a bug?

PS
Yes I have entered my assigned NXDN id.

Mike

Try:
apt purge analog-bridge
Then remove /opt/Analog_Bridge is it still exists.
Then look at /var/apt/cache/apt/archives Look for analog-bridge_1.6.... Delete it.
apt update
apt install analog-bridge

On my new Vultr server I have ASL running and had DVSwitch-server. I thought something was wrong so in removed it. Upon re-install all of the files did not populate. Here is a sample of the Analog_Bridge directory:

Missing is Analog_Bridge.ini and dvsm.macro. The other directories are similar in missing the .ini files.

I’ve tried apt-get update –fix-missing and apt install dvswitch-server –f

Any thoughts?

Need to see the section of the log from Analog_Bridge and MMDVM_Bridge when you transmit.

Re: Dashboard #best_practices

Steve N4IRS

Install a web server with php support
add the dashboard files into /var/www/html
The dashboard is a modification of the ysfreflector dashboard. You may find more complete instructions there. When I get time, I'll build apt packages for the reflectors and dashboards.

Re: DVSwitch Dashboard

Peter Buckley

Steve,

With your help got the "connect to Allstar node at boot time" working.

Edits only needed inside  rpt.conf
(below what is working for me now)

Under
[46141]
startup_macro_delay=20      ;this turns out to be very important
startup_macro = *52

[macro]
2=*7345479#      ;this is what I added  trying to get my Allstar 46141 to connect to Node 45479
;1 = *32011#
;2 = *12001*12011*12043*12040*12050*12060*12009*12002*12003*12004*1113*12030#
;3 = *32001*32011*32050*32030*32060#

In rpt.conf  under    ; Mandatory Command Codes   ;I added

73= ilink,13      ;this is intended to be a permanent connection

The trick above prevents me from (at boot time)
Having to login as  dvswitch
Then run   sudo als-menu
The go to:  5 in the Menu   (ASL Asterisk CLI)
then type     CLI*>    rpt fun 46141 *345479

Thanks!   73s
