Re: SHARI TO BM VIA DVSWITCH ON ASL #brandmeister #analog_bridge

Jeff Lehman, N8ACL

What he means is regardless of how the bridging is done, Whether it’s using HUC, pyuc, the DVswitch app, the server image, a hand build DV Switch system,  Allstar, Echolink or whatever, the BM admins have asked that no briding to worldwide or statewide Talkgroups be done. There are agreements with other DMR networks and BM the there will be no briding to keep it pure DMR…

You should not be connecting allstar to tg 91.  allstar can be used on approved tg's like your seven digit id or with an OK from BM admin.  BM is a digital system its not intended nor was allstar intended to be used in this manner.  If you hear others doing it they are wrong also if they didnt get OK.  I have nothing against your system.  Please dont link it to a worldwide TG

SHARI TO BM VIA DVSWITCH ON ASL #brandmeister #analog_bridge

Fairfieldsteve@...

Relatively New ALLSTAR user here…
I have setup my SHARI on RPi4 to connect to ALLSTAR, ECHOLINK and then Brandmeister using ASL and DVSWITCH. EVERYTHING works fine except when I try to use my radio to connect to SHARI
node and listen to the DMR channel 91 active on DVSWITCH SHARI node, I get no audio in from DMR CH 91. I can transmit to SHARI and hear the transmission come out on the SHARI ALLSTAR node, but nothing from DMR. I do see all the traffic on DMR TG91 if I connect to the web browser for the node SHARI is running on - get the DASHBOARD fine.
Can someone please help ?

Thank you

Re: DMR Master?

Thanks John. But I'm running Hamvoip, not Allstarlink build. Hamvoip solved issues with my setup that Allstarlink could not. Mainly having to turn off all telemetry to prevent "ping pong" between my link radio and repeater. The new Hamvoip pre-release solved the issue so I could change back to duplex=1 and regain all telemetry, courtesy tones, AutoSky, etc. Unfortunately, I could not find an easy way to install DVS server on the same rpi as Hamvoip server, so I opted to use a second rpi 3b+ for now. When someone documents an easy way to install Hamvoip AND DVS server on one rpi, I'll be building more.

Hi Ernie,
I get what you are saying and ideal if you can warn everyone in advance but what I need is a robust solution so the Reflector stops sending S&D packets or extends the tail long enough to not have BM loop ban.

what is "MB"?

Bryan, I'm running allstar and DVSwitch together on one single RPi4. To get fixed IP address on router on MAC address set it to whatever IP address you want, and from DVS menu set it to DHCP. All works perfectly fine, have to install Allstarlink first on RPi4, followed by DVSwitch manually. I find using dynamic DNS easier to remember IP address, any issues feel free to drop me an email, details on QRZ. EA5JAV. John

Re: YSFReflector X commands causing BM loop ban

If you are connected to a Ysfreflector one should not use the search and direct. All it does is send unwanted packets. Change using software or #number. If there is a Wires-x node connected it will talk back causing more packets. I use Wires-x to MB to MB to Ysfreflector  this blocks. Also Ysfreflector to MB to XLX to BM with no problems. All the unwanted packet stays on the Ysfreflector. If you have several hundred users connected and you get a few users pressing the search and direct between overs all you get is upset radio hams.

Out of interest I checked if this happens on other reflectors particularly America Link and it does. When I connect to AL, and watch the traffic on dashboard I can see that pressing "Search & Direct" or interacting with the wires X part of my FT3 causes 0 seconds TX packets on the AL reflector.. I think this needs addressing at pYSFReflector code level. I am going to contact the author or have a go at coding a delay myself. Maybe a pi-star setting could prevent it?

I compiled mine on the 10th June Doug so about 3 days old. I think its version 20210606 from YSF Registry

Hi Steve,
Cheers, I took a look and I thought I had this set. I use 2 instances of MMDVM_BRIDGE one for DMR and one with YSF enabled. I think it was missing in one of them so I set it. I have pushed it up to 70 also from the 50 it was set at. I will let you know the outcome there.

If you have MMDVM_Bridge connected to BM you can insure those short transmissions are extended so not to trip the exalted "loop detector"
In DVSwitch.ini:
[DMR]
hangTimerInFrames = 50 ; Use 50 for 3 seconds of hang time (3000 / 60)

What version of the python YSF are you running? There are some recent enhancements to help with this.

Hi, I have a perfectly functional Brandmeister/Echolink/YSF/ASL(asterisk) crosslink node... with one exception...
When users on YSF use the X button and search/direct their system is sending multiple < 1 second packets that are tripping the BM loop ban...

Can anyone tell me what setting in what stanza in what ini file would ensure that "no tx less than 3 seconds makes it to BM'"

The reflector is pYSFReflector and the node is MMDV_Bridge, DVSWItCH Analog_bridge with MD380 Emu .. stable and good audio all apart from this. I think I have cured all the other modes I just cant seem to stop YSF stripping the ban.

Pulling my hair out now.

OK,
AR will mute the digital mode if Allstar is selected and vice versa. If you don't change modes on the HTML client, you have a bridge. I am out of time tonight. Play with it. DO NOT bridge anything over to 91, 93 or 3100. Be careful what you bridge. Next we will turn of automute. Have fun.

Have you not figured out we are taking this step by step?
Now uncheck the mute for Analog_Bridge
