Re: enabling an AMBE dongle

Derek William Haden <facebook@...>

Here's what I get when I run this

-----------------------
Setting serial port

Serial port parameters:

Port name: /dev/ttyUSB0

Baudrate: 460800

Byte size: 8

Parity: N

Stop bits: 1

Xon Xoff: False

RTS/CTS: False

DST/DTR: False

*********************

Testing Reset DV3000

Error, AMBE header was corrupt
-----------------------------
So looks like I have been sold a lemon.

What options do I need?

Re: enabling an AMBE dongle

python AMBEtest4.py -n -v -e -s /dev/ttyUSB0

What options did you use to with AMBEtest4? What was the command line?

Does this mean it's no good?
I bought it used.

Derek,
I don't know what menu you are using. I have to assume you are using the DVlink image. I can't help you with that.
For AB, below are the settings for Analog_Bridge.ini Even though you are running a 2.5 amp PS, I suggest you run AMBEtest4.py to verify correct operation of the DV3000.

[DV3000]
; address = 127.0.0.1                   ; IP address of AMBEServer
; rxPort = 2460                         ; Port of AMBEServer
address = /dev/ttyUSB0                  ; Device of DV3000U on this machine
baud = 460800                           ; Baud rate of the dongle (230400 or 460800)
serial = true                           ; Use serial=true for direct connect or serial=false for AMBEServer

The DStar audio is crap, so I bought a NWD usb dongle. lsusb shows the device, and ttyUSB0 is in /dev Latency timer comes back as 1. I have gone into the menu settings and selected the AMBE usb option under emulation. However the audio is still crap, and it does not seem to have improved on DMR. I think there are some settings in Analog_Bridge.ini that may have some bearing on this, but I just can't figure it out. Can anyone help? Power supply is a 2.5 amp device so plenty of juice.

No, but it will get you set up with ASL and Analog_Bridge. Then you will need to connect IPSC_Bridge

I just checked the IPSC2-Texas master. One of the three TG's that I'm interested in on DMR-MARC is listed (Lonestar). The two that were not (Dillo and Cactus) are private intertie related TG's. So, I'm not surprised that they weren't there.

The link to "ASL to DMR bridge how to" details the MMDVM_Bridge setup. Is there a similar how to doc that addresses the IPSC_bridge setup instead of MMDVM?

I was just reminded that many of the DMARC TGs are available on DMR+ which MMDVM_Bridge will connect to. I would check if the TGs you want are available on DMR+

Jeff,

I have an older ASL-DMR bridge running with a DV3000 running with access to two cbridge connections (since 2015). As long as I maintain full quieting access to my allstarlink node, there will be no issues. It’s just a long range ‘wireless microphone’ before digitizing and vocoding. So, that isn’t a problem in my case. Steve helped me with that configuration five years ago. That used dmrlink and ambe_audio.

The old bridge works flawlessly on established TG connections. The issue I’m running into is, in some cases, switching [section] stanza’s in ambe_audio.cfg (stays on the current TG).

A hardware AMBE vocoder, like the DV3000, provides high quality audio. It’s not clear to me how to use the DV3000 with DVSwitch and configure the software modules. Is there a detailed ‘how to’ doc for starting with an ASL node running on Debian Stretch and a Pi 3B+?

Re: DV4Mini and DVswitch?

Thank you.
Yes looks like I was making the assumption that DV4Mini, had a vocoder, but doesn't.
What I need is a USB vocoder widget like the THUMBDV or equivalent.

See this:
<https://dvswitch.groups.io/g/main/files/IPSC_AB_ASL.txt>
<https://dvswitch.groups.io/g/allstarlink/files/ASL%20to%20DMR%20Bridge.pdf>

Instead of MMDVM_Bridge you will use IPSC_Bridge

Analog_bridge uses the DV3000 for the Vocoder.

Re: analog-DMR bridge DMR-MARC connection #analog_bridge

Jeff Lehman, N8ACL

You will probably want to do a separate asl node from your bm connection. From past experience bm would prefer you not bridging networks. So you may want to setup a separate public asl node to connect to to do that.

 Tom,
The connection to a c-Bridge would be through IPSC_Bridge rather then MMDVM_Bridge.
It would look like this for ASL:
ASL <-> Analog_Bridge <-> IPSC_Bridge <-> c-Bridge.

Re: DV4Mini and DVswitch?

Yes, a hardware vocoder is preferred. The question is about a DV4 Mini. Different device. DV4 Mini radio not usable with DVSwitch.

I've been using a ThumbDV and it's working quite well. Nice, clear audio. Is it worlds better than the MD380 emulator? Nah. But it's good.

DVSwitch and Bluetooth

Barry G4MKT

I recently started to use DVSwitch with Allstar and just tried to set up a Bluetooth headset to work mobile with, having seen the option in the settings.

What I was not expecting was the 'Not yet implemented' message.

Is this a work in progress? If so, is there any progress I wonder?

Also it is rather a nuisance to have to keep switching screens to see whether there is a current connection, and to which node(s).

Would it be possible to add at least some minimal connection status to the same screen as the PTT, after all there is a lot of empty space on the dialer screen.

Cheers,
Barry
