Re: #mmdvm_bridge Segmentation Fault on Debian 10 amd64 #mmdvm_bridge

Well now, that fixed it. I could have sworn I had that enabled in config, but apparently, there was another one I had to enable. Thanks so much for helping me resolve this puzzling issue! This had me scratching my head for days.

This is good, getting closer.
Please check you MMDVM_Bridge.ini
Verify this is set, if not set it to 1

[DMR Network]
Enable=1

Please retest, if you are still getting the error, post your MMDVM_Bridge.ini

Thanks,
Steve

OK,
So it's not segfaulting with -v good!
Please make sure MMDVM_Bridge is not running in the background.
systemctl stop mmdvm_bridge
verify it's stopped
ps ax | grep MMDVM

If it's stopped
cd /opt/MMDVM_Bridge
./MMDVM_Bridge MMDVM_Bridge.ini

Show the output.

2:  What hardware / OS are you running on?

Would anyone in the group with a VPS Cloud installation of Debian 10 Buster running a current DvSwitch install be able to point their VPS  Cloud Server to the domain name, and port # of my Zum Ambe Server and let me know how the audio sounds on Dstar and Dmr?
Thanks, Ken

As far as I can tell, this is an individual who is in over their head with the network port arrangements. Something isn't plumbed together correctly and it's not working.

I would insist that we get a diagram from them describing what they think is being configured. If all they provide is log files, that might not be enough to understand/comprehend the data flows properly.

My two cents, anyway.

I strongly suggest that you spend a bit of time diagramming this in order to make sense of the interconnection between services. I scanned the thread and haven't seen you provide this, and looking at screenshots and copy-pasted logs is not helping right now (i.e. very, VERY hard to read and follow).

DV Switch is not an off-the-shelf product that you can just plug in and expect it to work flawlessly. You as an individual user also need to step up and make it a priority to learn how UDP networking functions in the real world. Your questions and responses have shown that you're not quite there (though I'm open to the possibility that you're actually very experienced with UDP and just want someone to do the work for you). UDP sockets can be confusing; go slow and take your time.

This is not to be mean-spirited, but you can't reasonably expect someone else to configure your software for you. All we can do is offer suggestions.

The only reason to do this is if you are running MMDVM_Bridge in daemon mode. We use systemd so this is not needed.

Subject: [DVSwitch] #mmdvm_bridge Segmentation Fault on Debian 10 amd64

Hello, everyone. I'm having trouble getting MMDVM_Bridge to run on a Debian 10 VPS running the AllstarLink 2.0 Beta 5 image, which is based off Debian 10. Each time I try to run it, it gives me a "Segmentation Fault" error with no other clues to help me determine what went wrong. I tried some solutions out there, but none of them worked for me. Any ideas?

Kimberly,
I'll need to see a few things to help determine the cause of the issue.
As root, please post the result of the following:
uname -a
file /opt/MMDVM_Bridge/MMDVM_Bridge

So that I don't have to go through 142 messages, what are you trying to do and what is your problem?
