Bridging to multiple Brandmeister Talkgroups HBLink

Skyler Fennell

I have a need to bridge in another DMR brandmeister talk-group into an HBLink DMR server. This is to connect a Colorado repeater network to a weather net, and I have permission on both talk-groups. I hope this isn't against BM's terms of service, I would like an answer anyways just for educational purposes because I will eventually do this between TGIF and BM in the future once I have permission from TGIF.

GOAL:
TALKGROUP_2_BRANDMEISTER  <---->  TALKGROUP_1_HBLINK  <----> TALKGROUP_1_BRANDMEISTER

On my HBLink.cfg, I have created 3 stanzas. MASTER1, REPEATER1, and REPEATER2.
Repeater 1 and Repeater 2 are both connected to the brandmeister network using a different local port and DMR ID.

HBLINK.CFG Important STANZAS:

[MASTER-1]

MODE: MASTER

ENABLED: True

REPEAT: True

MAX_PEERS: 10

EXPORT_AMBE: False

IP:

PORT: 62030

PASSPHRASE: passw0rd

GROUP_HANGTIME: 0

#This was set to 5

USE_ACL: True

REG_ACL: DENY:1

SUB_ACL: DENY:1

TGID_TS1_ACL: PERMIT:ALL

TGID_TS2_ACL: PERMIT:ALL

[REPEATER-1]

MODE: PEER

ENABLED: True

LOOSE: False

EXPORT_AMBE: False

IP:

PORT: 54009

MASTER_IP: 64.94.238.196

MASTER_PORT: 62031

PASSPHRASE: passw0rd

CALLSIGN: W0SKY

RADIO_ID: my_id_02

COLORCODE: 1

SLOTS: 3

GROUP_HANGTIME: 0

(omitted the rest of the not importatn stuff)

[REPEATER-2]

MODE: PEER

ENABLED: True

LOOSE: False

EXPORT_AMBE: False

IP:

PORT: 54008

MASTER_IP: 64.94.238.196

MASTER_PORT: 62031

COLORCODE: 1

SLOTS: 3

GROUP_HANGTIME: 0

RULES.PY. I've tried it both ways, but either way it will ONLY bridge to ONE Talkgroup, it will not chose both:

First Attempt:

BRIDGES = {

    'TEST': [

            {'SYSTEM': 'MASTER-1',    'TS': 2, 'TGID': TALKGROUP_1_HBLINK,    'ACTIVE': True, 'TIMEOUT': 2, 'TO_TYPE': 'NONE',  'ON': [2,], 'OFF': [9,10], 'RESET': []},

            {'SYSTEM': 'REPEATER-1',    'TS': 2, 'TGID': TALKGROUP_1_BRANDMEISTER, 'ACTIVE': True, 'TIMEOUT': 2, 'TO_TYPE': 'NONE',  'ON': [2,], 'OFF': [9,10], 'RESET': []},

           {'SYSTEM': 'REPEATER-2',    'TS': 2, 'TGID': TALKGROUP_2_BRANDMEISTER, 'ACTIVE': True, 'TIMEOUT': 2, 'TO_TYPE': 'NONE',  'ON': [2,], 'OFF': [9,10], 'RESET': []},

        ]

Audio only routes between TALKGROUP_1_HBLINK and one of the brandmeister talkgroups, not both. Trying each one individually works fine.

Second Attempt:

BRIDGES = {

    'TEST': [

            {'SYSTEM': 'MASTER-1',    'TS': 2, 'TGID': TALKGROUP_1_HBLINK,    'ACTIVE': True, 'TIMEOUT': 2, 'TO_TYPE': 'NONE',  'ON': [2,], 'OFF': [9,10], 'RESET': []},

            {'SYSTEM': 'REPEATER-1',    'TS': 2, 'TGID': TALKGROUP_1_BRANDMEISTER, 'ACTIVE': True, 'TIMEOUT': 2, 'TO_TYPE': 'NONE',  'ON': [2,], 'OFF': [9,10], 'RESET': []},

        ],

    'TESTA': [

            {'SYSTEM': 'MASTER-1',    'TS': 2, 'TGID': TALKGROUP_1_HBLINK,    'ACTIVE': True, 'TIMEOUT': 2, 'TO_TYPE': 'NONE',  'ON': [2,], 'OFF': [9,10], 'RESET': []},

           {'SYSTEM': 'REPEATER-2',    'TS': 2, 'TGID': TALKGROUP_2_BRANDMEISTER, 'ACTIVE': True, 'TIMEOUT': 2, 'TO_TYPE': 'NONE',  'ON': [2,], 'OFF': [9,10], 'RESET': []},

        ]

}

Also, if it matters, the HBLINK TG 1 is equal to the BM TG 1. I can make them different.

Hello,

Does this require dongles for transcoding? I ask as I get perfect audio from DMR to DSTAR without them but no audio from DSTAR to DMR.

I have built a NXDN to DMR bridge using the NXDN Reflector, NXDN Gateway and the MMDVM Bridge. I'm getting a weird error in the logs. Folks on DMR can hear the NXDN Reflector but nothing comes back to NXDN from DMR. I figured this error might have something to do with it and not sure what this means.

Thank you very much Joaquin ,
Yes I confirm the information was entered correctly.
the DVstick 30 transmit fine on C4FM, NXDN and P25.
Dmr and Dstar are the only issue.
The only issue which nags me is perhaps the DMR  id information get compromised somewhere within the DVswitch mobile or the raspberry.

When using the DVStick30 configuration, you will have to set baud to 460800.
Check it out.

Re: MMDVM_BRIDGE and connect to XLX selected Module #mmdvm_bridge

SP2ONG Waldek

Hi Mike and Steve

Is it known when you can expect a version of MMDVM_Bridge that will allow you to connect to XLX with selected module? (Options = XLX: 4003)

I also read in

https://dvswitch.groups.io/g/main/message/3899

Mike N4IRR has some comments on audio levels between the two modes and he is planning a writeup for the wiki. We also discussed the possibility of allowing adjusting the audio level in this type of bridge. Plans are in the works for a proof of concept over the next week or so.

Did you solve the problem of adjusting the audio levels between DMR and YSF?
Thanks to this, replacing the YSF2DMR application would be very useful for the quality of the connection between XLX DMR and YSF reflector

You have update 2 July  and this version has working XLX but is not avilabel as binary on GitHub

That is why the flow is so important especially when transcoding IMBE to AMBE.

We need to see the traffic flow all the way through the bridge. Start with clean logs of ALL the instances.
Bring up the programs and transmit on DMR ONE time.
Stop all the programs.
Show each of the following logs:
MB_DMR

Please keep each log in a seperate file. They should be plain text files.
We may then request copies of a config file. Same requirement, a plain text file.

Jake,
A DMR to P25 bridge will look like this:
BM <-> MB_DMR <-> AB_DMR <-> AB_P25 <-> MB_P25 <-> P25Gateway <-> P25Reflector

You can use one instance of MB for both DMR and P25
The DMR mode of MB will feed the AB for DMR
The P25 mode will feed AB for P25
You will need to have two instances of AB

We need to see the traffic flow all the way through the bridge. Start with clean logs of ALL the instances.
Bring up the programs and transmit on DMR ONE time.
Stop all the programs.
Show each of the following logs:
MB_DMR
AB_DMR
AB_P25
MB_P25

Please keep each log in a seperate file. They should be plain text files.
We may then request copies of a config file. Same requirement, a plain text file.

This is a port map of a DMR <-> P25 bridge.

MMDVM Bridge log shows the P25 traffic and the traffic coming from DMR and the P25Reflector log shows the P25 traffic nothing comes out the DMR side and no traffic from DMR comes out the P25 side. I've attached the log files and my configs. Would someone be able to take a look and let me know if I missed something?

1: I see no attempt at traffic from DMR

2: You have P25 MB and P25 AB on the same ports;

MB:

M: 2019-10-16 21:39:16.437 P25, Setting [P25] TXPort -> 34100

M: 2019-10-16 21:39:16.437 P25, Setting [P25] RXPort -> 34103

AB:

M: 2019-10-16 21:39:07.187 Setting [AMBE_AUDIO] txPort -> 34100

M: 2019-10-16 21:39:07.187 Setting [AMBE_AUDIO] rxPort -> 34103

It should be TXPort to RXPort and RXPort to TXPort.
