You are using the Vocoder built into AB.

Step 1:
Make sure the md380 emulator is running. Do this as root:
ps ax | grep md380-emu
The output should look like this:

ps ax | grep md380-emu
  589 ?        Ssl    0:00 /usr/bin/qemu-arm-static /opt/md380-emu/md380-emu -S 2470
13641 pts/1    S+     0:00 grep md380-emu

Step 2:
If md380-emu is running, verify it is listening on port 2470

netstat -unap | grep 2470
udp        0      0 0.0.0.0:2470            0.0.0.0:*                           589/qemu-arm-static

Step 3:
If BOTH the above are true, edit the [General] stanza
Change:
useEmulator = false                     ; Use the MD380 AMBE emulator for AMBE72 (DMR/YSFN/NXDN)

To:
useEmulator = true                     ; Use the MD380 AMBE emulator for AMBE72 (DMR/YSFN/NXDN)

Restart AB and retest

Wow, cop 4 test tone is crystal clear on DMR now!  

ASL to DMR Voice level seems a tad low so I'll add some gain.
