YSF Reflector Going Offline - Garbled Callsign
scot forshaw
Does anyone know what a corrupt callsign keeps knocking my Reflector offline?
It fine for days unless they user tries connecting? Thanks Scot

How do you recover? Assuming you use systemd to start the reflector, is there a restart?

OK,

So, it does not take down the reflector. Can you post the actual log file? IF I can find anything in the log, you can talk to the user, or you may have to block his IP. To get what looks like a bug in YSFReflector to me, you may want to ask in <https://groups.io/g/OpenDV> Steve N4IRS

Hi Steve,
yes it does take the reflector offline, I just restarted it at 13:21. Which log are you asking to see please? Thanks Scot 2E0WWV

Scot,
YSFReflector version 20210215 many of us are having the same issue with it, where the reflector would crashed when user is unlinked from the reflector. My reflector would be up for long time and talk on it for hours but as soon as user(s) unlinked - it often crashed. Some went back down to older version and live with either no IP logging issue or double logging issue but at no crashes. There is an opened issue about crashes on G4KLX github issue reports but I guess it was never got a looked at. Myself went with https://github.com/iu5jae/pYSFReflector and have not look back. Very stable and have some cool features. However it was written in Python3 instead of C++. Give it a try or if you want to stick with G4KLX version I would suggest get the older version if you could live with the IP address bug. HTH 73, Kit

Hi Komkit,
thank you very much for the detailed reply. This was the current version when I setup the reflector. I am glad you pointed out the issues. I will have a look for an earlier version. If I get time I may look at the source for this version and see if there is an easy fix! Thanks 73 Scot 2E0WWV
